The Gentleman, the Lady, and a bottle of wine

The Gentleman, the Lady, and a bottle of wine

Verse 1

Twas a late September on an autumn day, the sky was almost gray

A strange woman slowly approached me.  She had something to say

She said she’d give me 3 wishes if I gave her 3 kisses and my bottle of Golden Chardonnay

I looked in her eye, as I thought up my reply, all I had to say...

Change 1

Was I’m glad you came by, but what you got I want from you for free

So mystic lady, who knows maybe you and I may see...

Chorus

Sunny days on our horizon, a smiling face, can make a memory

Verse 2

“There is no telling of what the future may bring” this the lady did say

With a look in her eye telling me not to pry then she pushed her cart away

Sometimes I wonder if I were a bit younger all the rhythm and blues I’d play,

If I gave her the kisses and I used up the wishes; to form a band that day.

Change 2

I have my memory, mystic lady, you gave it to me for free

So mystic lady, who knows maybe, you and I may see…

Chorus

Sunny days on our horizons a smiling face, can make a memory

Verse 3

I’ve heard the thunder on a stormy night; I’ve watched the sun shine through

I’ve seen hatred in my own two eyes; I’ve seen some love there too

And if tomorrow may bring many more challenging things I’ll do what I must do

Wait by the door, with a bottle to pour Golden Chardonnay for two.

Instrumental

Chorus

Sunny days on our horizons a smiling face, can make a memory
