For the Town of Morro Bay

Dedicated to John Denver

I wanted to write a song the way John Denver would write a song. But not about Colorado this time. I should be about Morro Bay.

Lyrics

1. Talking Morro Bay
Verse 1
What I call peace, is strictly peace of mind.
What I call living, is the life that I can find,
Watching otters play, from the jetty by the bay
The great rock shields my troubles far away.

Change
And still I’m happy when I’m up here enjoying the view,
With nothing but the sea breeze to talk to and no rose smells so sweet.
And then a tune comes to me and I try to sing
Any rhyming words that my heart can bring
And strum my guitar in time and tap my feet

Verse 2
The sky today seems brighter than before
Mourning dove prays, who is she praying for?
And a blue belly, does push-ups on a tree,
And an egret stands, as still as still can be

Change
And still I’m happy when I’m up here enjoying the view,
With nothing but the sea breeze to talk to and no rose smells so sweet.
And then a tune comes to me and I try to sing
Any rhyming words that my heart can bring
And strum my guitar in time and tap my feet

Chorus 1
Hey, Talking Morro bay, shining my way,
Oh the ocean breeze, nothing left to please

Verse 3
So I sing this song, hoping someone hears,
And a gentle beat, tells me a crickets near.
I don’t expect a tip, but at least he sings along
SLO County is a paradise in song

Chorus 2
Hey, Talking Morro bay, shining my way,
Oh the ocean breeze, nothing left to please
Hey, Talking Morro bay, shining my way,
Oh the ocean breeze, nothing left to please
Hey, Talking Morro bay, shining my way,
Oh the ocean breeze, nothing left to please
